As with any Clan unit, potential pilots earn their right to full membership as Warriors through Trials of Position. We use a similar process in the Smoke Adders.

Via synch-drop or private lobbies (once introduced by PGI), pilots will face upwards of three Blood Officers in combat and must defeat at least one for their Blooded Warrior status.

Each pilot will be allowed to pilot any Mech from 30 - 80 tons of their choosing with the following restrictions:

Option 1 - Standard ToP

Each pilot and Blood Officer opponent will employ:

No consumable modules (Artillery, UAV, AirStrike, Coolant etc)
No ECM (unless using a Trial Mech vs another Trial Mech)
No LRM/Streaks or lock-on missiles of any type
No rocket launchers
No LMG or HMG
No Heavy Gauss
No Rotary Autocannons
No more than 1 x AC20, UAC20, or LBX20 mounted

All other weapons/equipment configurations are authorized, pending changes to the game which would cause the unit leaders to modify these restrictions.

The candidate's opponent will have the same restrictions and fight anonymously. The candidate will not know who they are actually facing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option 2 - LowTech ToP

Each pilot and Blood Officer opponent will employ:

Whichever Trial/Trial Champion Mechs within their weight class, without modifications of any kind!
No consumable modules (Artillery, UAV, AirStrike, Coolant etc)
No ECM (unless using a Trial Mech vs another Trial Mech)
No LRM/Streaks or lock-on missiles of any type
No rocket launchers
No LMG or HMG
No Heavy Gauss
No Rotary Autocannons
No more than 1 x AC, UAC, or LBX20 mounted

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option 3 - Accelerated ToP

Each pilot will comply with LowTech restrictions of option 2
Each Blood Officer opponent will employ restrictions of customization outlined in option 1

IF a candidate successfully defeats their opponent in this option, they will be advanced to Star Commander immediately, and if defeating two opponents will be advanced to Star Captain (provisional). There will be no third opponent.

An accelerated option may only be attempted once.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each of the three Blood Officers will be in game at the beginning of the Trial and the candidate (the "Snake") will be directed to move to a designated area. The Blood Officers will move to another area at least 1.5 grid-squares away. Once the Snake gives the "ready" he will be told which Blood Officer is his first opponent. They will advance upon each other and battle will commence.

If a candidate successfully defeats their Blood Officer and wishes to continue they will be allowed to do so.

For options 1 & 2

Defeating one opponent earns a pilot the rank of Mechwarrior.
Defeating two opponents earns the rank of Star Commander.
Defeating three opponents earns the rank of Star Captain (probationary).

If any time, weapons fire from the candidate strikes a non-involved Blood Officer, all Blood Officers are free to engage and the fight becomes a general melee. Rules for success still apply.

Snakes (pilots approved for general membership via vote from the Blooded Warrior membership) are afforded Trials on a recurring basis. If they fail their trial, they may retest when the next Trials are offered (which should be approximately weekly). It is not unusual for Snakes to take several attempts before passing their Trial of Position and there is no shame in this, as it is a sign of a dedicated player learning, improving their skills and getting better for the sake of the overall organization.

Candidates for the Trial of Position must declare their weight class (light, medium, heavy or assault) prior to the execution of the matches. They do not have to discuss the specific chassis or loadout and in fact should never do so.

In ALL cases, candidates are advised to remember that in accordance with Clan lore and tradition, their opponents will be of varying weight classes and not necessarily match directly, that of the candidate. You must be prepared to fight opponents faster and smaller, or heavier and more lethal at all times.
